College of Dietitians
of Manitoba
The College is a regulatory body and regulates the practice of dietetics in Manitoba.
The College Mandate is to;

Establish education standards.

Ensure that Dietitians meet the education standards.

Set the standard of practice for the delivery of safe, effective and ethical practice.

Ensure that Dietitians are competent.

Ensure that Dietitians practice in the public interest.
Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics for Registered Dietitians is a statement of the ethical commitment of dietitians to those they serve.

It has been developed by dietitians for dietitians.

It outlines the numerous roles played by dietitians and the ethical standards by which dietitians are to conduct their practice.

It gives guidance for decision-making, serves as a means of self-evalution, and provides a basis for feed-back and peer review.

It outlines what dietitians must know about their ethical responsibilities.
The Regulated Health Professions Act

The RHPA sets out consistent rules and process for governess, registration, complaints and discipline, and regulation and by-law making authority.

Each profession has a college, regulations, a code of ethics and standards to govern its members.

The RHPA regulates health professions through "Reserved Acts".

"Reserved Acts" are health care services or procedures performed in the course of providing health care by competent healthcare professionals.

The healthcare professional must have the appropriate competence, knowledge and skills necessary to perform the act safely.
